The Sales Order process in BusinessMaster/Enterprise is really 2 concepts that
work standalone, or together depending on your needs.
-
The Line Item driven Sales Order section is within the CORE module, and
allows for traditional, item based Sales Order Entry.
-
This concept works very well for the classic production operation, or for
basic Line Item based billing, and can be used in tandem with the Projects based
Sales tools as well.

The Project driven Sales management section allows for the management of the
more complex and dynamic information associated with Project based
manufacturing.
-
Projects are managed for many different processes including Progress Billing,
Job Phasing, and display many other data elements such as Purchase Orders, Time
Collected, and Scheduling Status.

The Projects module allows for Project Management, and much, much more.
- Projects can be broken down into Phases, with each Phase having distinct
Types for reference, connected by the master Job Number.
- Each Phase maintains its own connected data including:
Schedule, Job Specs, Manufacturing Details, Materials Estimates and
Actuals, Labor Estimates and Actuals, Real Time Labor/Dept Status, Notes, File
Associations, Billing and Revenue Booking, and Dependents.
- Projects connect with Job Specific Purchase Order Line Items, and allow you
to see in real time where the Purchase Order stands from within the Project
screen.
- Each Project can have context specific reminders to yourself, or to other
users, and allow a reply back with information.
- Reports use both the Job Number, and the Phase Number for easy filtering by
Phase or whole Job.

Released, Finished and Closed.
- Firmed locks the Scheduling Dates and Quantities.
- Integrated with CORE module for StockBill/Routers,
Labor, and Materials reporting.
- Integrated with Inventory module for MRP Planning.

The Accounting module helps track the creation of Accounting transactions,
that can then be output to QuickBooks via the QuickBooks link, or output to
Accounting programs you have in house.
- PurchaseOrders drive Receivings, which drive
Vouchers. Vouchers are AccountsPayable entities that can be output as a Bill to
be Paid.
- Line Item based SalesOrders drive PackingSlips, which
drive Invoices. Invoices are AccountsReceivable entities that can be output as
Invoices to receive payments.
- Progressive Billing can be handled along with Revenue
Booking against Projects.
- Deposits can be tracked as liabilities, and then
converted to Revenue at appropriate stages.
- Payments against Invoices can be tracked, and output
as Payments.
- Labor collected in the Labor module can be output as
Time Trackings in QuickBooks, or sent to other programs.
