The Labor Department and Function Costing Report (Labor Costs for Jobs and/or Phases, by Departments and Functions)
You can view this report for all jobs or view a specific Job by selecting the Job Number and/or the Phase/Sales Order Number in the Advanced Selection Screen. For each Job/Phase, it shows you the Job/Phase Number and Description, then the Total Hours and Labor Costs. Then it breaks down the hours by the departments and the functions in the departments. The hours are shown according to Regular Hours, Overtime Hours and Doubletime Hours. The boxed Hours fields tell you the percent of the Job that was made up in those categories. The Labor costs are split up into straight Labor hour cost and then the Cost according to the Burden rate. The boxed Labor fields show you the represented percent of the Job according to the Hours worked as displayed in the Hrs categories. Then as the Jobs get broken down into Departments and Functions, you can see the percent of the Job that each department and function represents.

Example
For the example below, we have filtered this report (from the Advanced Selection Screen) for Job: 5. This Job has three phases; 5.0, 5.1, and 5.2. Each phase has different amounts of Labor Hours that were worked. You are only seeing Phase 5.1 in the example here. The other phases are on the next pages of the report.
Totals for Job
The first section of the report at the top shows the Totals for all phases, then the Phases get broken down one by one starting with the first Phase.
Hours
The totals at the top in this example show that there were 29.00 Regular Time Hours (RegHrs) worked on this Job. The boxed field next to the Hours indicates that this was 91% of the Total Labor Hours for this job. The 3.00 Hours of Overtime (OTHrs) worked on it accounted for 9% of the time spent on this Job. There were no DoubleTime Hours (DTHrs) worked on this Job.
Employee Rate Costs
The Cost column indicates that the employees that worked these Hours costed a total of $837.50 in Employee Rate Dollars to complete this Job. Doing the math, this works out to be about $26.17 per hour for this Job.
Burden Rate Costs
The Burden column in this report represents the overall cost for the Labor Hours worked, in this case including the actual Employee Rate costs. The 29.00 RegHrs worked ended up costing $2340.00, and represented 87% of the hours it took to complete the Job. Looking at the OTHrs for the Job, you can see that the $360.00 it cost was actually 13% of the Hours it took to complete the Job. This information in the real world would probably be a major focal point in working to reduce Labor Costs for this example company. So the Total Burden Labor Rate cost for this Job was $2700.00. Doing the math, this Job cost about $84.38 per hour to complete. Note: Reporting the Burden Labor Rate in BusinessMaster can be done in two ways, depending on how your company determines your Burden Labor Rates. If you don't calculate Employee Rates in your Burden Rates, and wish to just include the Employee Rate costs through BusinessMaster, rolled up into the Burden Rate Cost, then you would make sure that the ReplaceEmpRate boxes for your Burden Labor Rates are Unchecked in the Burden Labor Rate Manager. If you already calculate Employee Rates in your Burden Rates, and wish to see the Burden Rate Cost Not Including the Employee Rate Costs through BusinessMaster, then make sure the ReplaceEmpRate boxes for your Burden Labor Rates are Checked in the Burden Labor Rate Manager.
Totals by Phase
If there are multiple Phases for a Job, as in this example, then the report breaks them down after the Job Total Section. In the example below, the first Phase is Phase: 5. The report breaks down the Phase the same way it does for the Job Totals section, except that it's totals and percentages are for the Phase instead of the Job. Looking at this Phase, we can see that there were 26.00 RegHrs worked, representing 100% of the Labor Hours for the Phase, and that the Employee Rate Costs were $650.00, and the total Burden Cost of the Phase was $2100.00, representing 100% of the Labor Hours for this Phase.
Phase Totals by Department
The next layer of this report is Department breakdowns for the Phases. The report breaks down the Departments the same way it does the Job and the Phase(s), except that the totals and percentages are for the Department and Job. In our example below, we can see that Department 100 worked 5.00 RegHrs for Phase: 5 of the Job. No OT or DT hours were worked. The RegHrs for these hours the Department worked against Phase:5 were 100% of the Department hours worked for this Phase, and represented 17% of the hours this department worked for the Job. The departments cost by Employee Rate dollars was $125 (or $25 per hour) and it cost $400.00 against the Job in Burden Rate. In our example, there are actually more departments that logged hours against this Phase, and they are viewable on the next page of the report, which we aren't presenting here, since the screenshot example is sufficient to get the general idea.
Phase Totals by Department Functions
The bottom layer of this report is the Department Functions. The Functions report the same way the other levels do, except that the totals and percentages are for the function, the Department and Job. In our example, this is the only Function the Department worked against the Phase, so the data is the same as the Department level of the report. The only additional information you can see is that the 5 Regular Time hours worked in this Function of the Department were 100% of the hours worked for that function. If there were more Functions worked by this Department against this Phase, they would be listed after this Function.

You can view this report for all Jobs, or view a specific Job/Phase by selecting the JobPhase/Sales Order Number in the Advanced Selection Screen. Example
For the example pictured below, we have filtered the report for JobNum 5. This Job has three phases; 5.0, 5.1, and 5.2. You can see by looking at the selection criteria at the top of the report that we filtered only by Job Number, and that we are looking at all Phases and Product Codes for the job. The three example phases are set up similarly to help make the different key points of the report easiliy identified. Each Phase has materials from the same 3 product codes, and there are two component items in each Product Code for the Phases. (The Phases pictured in this example are consolidated from the normal view where the Phases would be spread out on seperate pages of the report).

Total Cost
The first level of detail on the report is the Total Cost of Materials for the Job. This is listed under the JobNum listing at the top. In the example below, the total material cost for Jobnum5 was $9086.50.

Phases
The next level of detail for the Job is it's Phase breakdown. The first phase of JobNum5 is the top level JobPhase 5.0. It's total material cost toward JobNum5 is $3613.00. JobPhase 5.1 has a material cost of $2648.50, and JobPhase 5.2 has a material cost of $2825.00.

Product Codes
The next level of detail is the Product Code breakdown for the Phases. The Cost of Phase 5.0 was $3613.00, of which $2600.00 of the material cost was from Product Code 01, $610.50 was from Product Code 02, and $402.50 was from Product Code 03.

Items
The bottom level of detail is the actual materials breakdown by Product Code for the Phase. In our example, there are 3 Product Codes in each Phase, with two. They are identified under the IternalPartNum header. Each item has its cost listed on the same line under the Cost header. In Phase 5.0, the names of the items are Component1 (Cost $1600.00), Component2, and Component3. Phase 5.2 happens to be a Finished Good that is in Product Code 01.
