Single Folder Select Method | Select Each Group Method



When you open BusinessMaster and see the EZ Attachment Manager, as pictured below, it means the program cannot find the current database files, and the tables need to be attached or reattached to them:

There are two possible methods here for attaching to the data files; selecting a single folder that contains the data files, or selecting the individual data groups to connect to. Usually the Single Folder Select Method is the best method, but in some cases, selecting each group is necessary. Each method is detailed below.



Single Folder Select Method        Watch the Video
One way to attach or reattach tables from the EZ Attachment Manager is to use the Select button. Follow the steps on the next pages to complete the file attachments using this method.

Step 1.
Select Company | Step 2. Browse for Folder | Step 3. Connect Files


Step 1. Select Company <Top>
Select the "Tables" Company from the Select Company drop down menu, which is highlighted yellow:

Next click the Select button:

Step 2. Browse for Folder <Top>
Pressing the Select button brings up the Browse for Folder window. Find and select the folder that contains the BusinessMasterData File. For first time and demo installations, they should be in "c:\mastersolutions" as pictured below. Click the OK button when you've selected the folder:

Note: If you have moved your data files to a shared server folder, then you want to refer to the Networking Section for more instructions.

Step 3. Connect Files <Top>
The next pop up screen will prompt you to connect to the data files in the selected folder:

The next pop up screen should say "Attachments made successfully", to verify a successful connection. The number after "Attachments made successfully" indicates the amount of time in seconds it took to make the connections. Click the OK button:

If a BackEnd update Is necessary, you will see the following message box asking if you want to check the Data Files for updates. Click the Yes button:

As the message says, as long as you are sure nobody is in BusinessMaster, click the OK button when it asks you to make sure everyone is out of the Program:

This completes the attachment process and now you should see the Main BusinessMaster Switchboard:

Select Each Group Method Watch the Video
Another way to attach to the database files from the EZ Attachment Manager is by selecting the individual data groups to be attached. Follow the steps below to complete attachments.

Step 1.
Select Company | Step 2. Select Group | Step 3. Change File | Step 4. Attach/Reattach Tables

Step 1. Select Company <Top>

Select the "Tables" Company from the Select Company drop down menu, which is highlighted yellow:

Step 2. Select Group <Top>
Select the first group "MainData" by left clicking on the item in the Group field:

Step 3. Change File <Top>
Now Click the Change File Button.

The Windows File Explorer opens. Select the correct location and file. The correct filename for the MainData file is "BusinessMasterData". Once selected, click the Select button.

Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the TempData Group, which is named"TempData".

Step 4. Attach/Reattach Tables <Top>
Once the group files have been selected, click the button that says "Attach/Reattach Tables to Data Files". This will go through and connect BusinessMaster to the Data Files:
